Oh my gosh. Growing up I was always drawn to the super smart guys. The ones who loved Lord of the Rings and could actually write, read, and speak the languages from J.R.R. Tolkien's books. They played video games and wrote computer programs. They were the boys in the play and on the debate and oral interp teams as well. They were adorable, but hardly anyone seemed to notice them but me and a few other equally nerdy girls. Why was that? I can not imagine. Honestly, how can any woman resist the sexy cute draw of a man with an adorable grin that says if I tear myself away from my computer, you will have my undivided attention.
There is something undeniably adorable about such men. Don't get me wrong, I like a super buff boy or a guy in boots and a hat as well as the next woman, but my libido still jumps to attention when a guy in a white shirt and black dress pants walks by with the absentminded professor look. Christopher Gorham has that look in spades. His new show Covert Affairs is an appetizer for any nerd lover in my humble opinion.
My own guy isn't quite a nerd - though he is smart as hell and sexy to boot. As an engineer, I suppose he qualifies, but I have seen him in biker leather too many times for the nerd image to remain. LOL
So what do you think ladies - and gents for that matter - does a cute nerd do it for you? I'm working on an anthology with some friends, and I think the hero just might have to be a hot nerd extraordinaire. Is it just me or is that hot for others as well? Are you in love with a nerd? Do you lust after one? Does your mind and body go on alert when a well dress computer geek walks by? Share you thoughts. Can't wait to hear what you think.
I've been with both nerds and hands-on guys and like then both for different reasons. First, people don't think smart guys know how to party.....but that's noooot true! They are fun, just have better jokes. :-) I love a man in a sexy pair of glasses, especially if he has something interesting under than button down shirt and blazer!
ReplyDeleteMy guy is a hands-on fixer type. He's sexy and sweet and I adore him. Smart in many ways; maybe not the ways of Aristotle, and he's no rocket scientist, but his knowledge in other areas blows me away. I like him like that!

Nearly every guy I dated in high school was at a tech school nearby and worked part time making circuit boards during college...I know that dates me but I also tells you that those corduroy wearing, wallaby shod boys with the collar brushing hair were secret hotties lol
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on the nerd and the amount of nerdiness, Is smart atractive you betcha, can a nerd be sexy too of course. But is a guy who can only talk about star wars and how much ram my hard drive have. HMMM not so much...LOL

You are so right that nerds are truly sexy? After all, aside from great sex you want a guy who can actually converse with you on interesting topics that don't involve football or hunting. My own nerd is an engineer and I've always believed he is uber sexy. Might be in the eye of the beholder, but he sure curls my toes.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, nerds are sexy. Nerds are smart, interesting, they can solve problems--I don't know about you, but I find that sexy. They don't know they're hot and that's makes them more attractive in my book. The guy who thinks he's God's gift to women--total turn off.
ReplyDeleteOh and I agree with you, Christopher Gorham has the look in spades. I really enjoyed the show.
Loved the topic.
I like smart guys. Well-built is nice but I prefer brains over stupid brawn. I would love a guy to defend me physically if he needed to but I would rather he figure out how to outsmart the idiot on the receiving end. Beauty fades. Brains don't. Give me a delicious geek any day.
ReplyDeleteOoh, yes, nerds can be hot! I think nerds can be super sensitive, but there's an underlying passion just waiting for the right girl to come along and stir the embers. I have a story brewing with a nerd as the hero but it has to keep simmering until I finish the other two I'm working on.
ReplyDeleteGreat subject, Becca!
On the flip side, how many smart girls have learned that they are a threat to guys? My best friend in high school wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and she wasn't gorgeous but she always had boyfriends...why? Because she never tried to act intelligent around the boys. I, on the other hand, never mastered that ability, so it wasn't until I was in college that I had my first "real" boyfriend. He was extremely intelligent, knew something about everything and told me I was the first girl he'd ever been able to have a conversation with. I think brains is just as sexy as brawn. That guy who thought I was easy to talk to? I married him.
ReplyDeleteI love a hot nerd. Though, when I say hot, I mean Matthew Gray Gubler, not a buff guy with glasses to make him look smart.
ReplyDeleteI mean the boys hacking into telcom systems nerds. With messy hair and that want to go to the comic book store.
Unfortunately, in romance, I seem to be the aberration :(
So smart is sexy - nerdy can be and often is - but it is primarily the intelligence part. I agree. I laughed aloud at several of the answers here. Thanks for the feedback ladies.
ReplyDeleteSmart guys are definitely sexy. They come up with great ideas. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Dominique. Nerdy has it's limits. But then, I am warped. I'm attracted to a man who can make me laugh. I think Robin Williams is sexy. Now, how messed up is that? lol! But, just look at those incredible blue eyes? He's not just funny, he's cute! And in most of his movies, he has such a big heart. That's sexy. Then again, Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, and Gerard Butler do it for me too!
ReplyDeleteHa ha Cate. THa sounds interesting. And Lily, Who wouldn't appreciate Hugh Jackman, but you must admit that Robin Williams is certainly nerdy/cute to an extent. I agree that funny is sexy. My hubby makes me laugh daily and I have to be pretty crabby for him to be unable to make me smile. Unfortunately, I can not write humor. I have tried and failed miserably. I wish I could, but my mind doesn't run that way.
