Nine o'clock Discussion

What comes to mind when you hear words like Atari, Collico Vision, Pong, Asteroids, Space Invaders, Play Station, Game Boy, Nintendo, or X-Box? If you haven't heard of half of these words, you are probably under thirty. What video games did you or your friends play when you were growing up? Did you have a home system or did you have to go to the arcade? What do you think of them in general?

  1. My brothers played atari but then we got a Nintendo. It was awesome...we could really shoot ducks with the sweet lazer thingie. I remember having to blow the dust out of the cartrages to get them to work. Awesome. Oh and we never went to arcades, way too expensive. My mom made us run outside :)

  2. LOL - Loved duck hunt. Much better than Pong which was our first game. We were only allowed to play it on really rainy days or when it was too cold to play outside.

  3. I'm old enough I had to go to the arcade to play games. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be either Pac-Man or Centipede.

My children have an XBox and play 'live'shooter games all the time. Some nights I fall asleep with the echo of bombs and grenades over my head. I'm surprised I don't have nightmares. Of course, hearing the rude comments thrown out by my nearly 17 yo while playing live,(he has a headset and all the players who are live/online can talk to each other)keeps me in the now. :P

  4. I hate when my son plays online - of course he is on his own now so Mom has no say in it. Sigh. Sometimes I stop by his place as he and all his roomates are playing games in seperate rooms but they are all talking to each other on their headsets. It just seems odd to hang out with friends and not really be with them. And some of the comments for the guys they sign up to play are outrageous, I agree.
